I sit staring at a large iMac screen...there are over 2000 files looking back at me from 16 'shed stories'...so much content.
Procrastination...I just need to get started...
But first, a story for 'The Shed Show' blog.
By this stage in my media career I thought I'd be a producer on '60 Minutes' or a 'media magnate' with a staff of 20 people, feverishly working on advertising for multi-nationals...
It doesn't always happen the way you imagined.
A blessing in this case...who needs that much stress!
Whether it's coincidence or karma, one of my old work mates 'Whiskas' called to chat about a concept for a TV show...an idea that would involve travelling around Australia, visiting people who own sheds and telling their story.
"That sounds great, let's make it happen."
And so, Whiskas and I have been lucky, on our journey so far, to share the passion and stories of the people in the 'shed community'.
I really enjoy being involved in this show...the ideas and creativity shared with Whiskas, the travelling, but most of all...being able to relax at the end of the day with the characters we meet (with no scruples) and enjoy a beer.
The filming part is comparatively easy, record an interview, capturing the moment, checking out the locations, having a laugh...but editing is something completely different...
Kettle is boiling better make a coffee...
There are so many ways to edit these stories, and do each one of them justice, my head spins a little bit...
There are mates hearts invested in this TV Show...And I'm sitting here with the content (rough vision and full interviews), contemplating how to piece the first episode together. It's daunting...
Then the questions come... Does the show move fast enough? ...yes. Is the content enjoyable? ...I reckon it is. Do people want to see more detail? ...that will come with feedback.
The 'Mrs' made some beaut banana bread...better get a slice...
So many questions...we shall wait in anticipation for the response from the viewers. So many questions...
Whiskas, Denis and I have the experience and skill to make it happen.
We have the passion to make this work, and deliver the first 6 episodes of 'The Shed Show'. But, every segment has got to look and sound 'right'.
Pause...
I better get started...this first episode won't 'cut' itself.
Hope you enjoy 'The Shed Show'!
I'm sure you will - PK.
