We found out this week that the WORLD PREMIERE of 'The Shed Show' is Wednesday August 31 at 6pm on C31 in Melbourne and Geelong. For those of you not in that 'free-to-air zone', you’ve got to get up to speed (like me) with the Channel 31 App. Apparently this is easy, even for a technophobe like me. PK will explain it in 'simple terms' on the website and via social media - this 'guide' will be available before the first show. This means you can view 'The Shed Show' anywhere in the world on a Smart TV, game console, mobile phone or tablet. The first show is jam packed too. We take a tour of The Great Aussie Beer Shed, learn some 'Shediquette', visit Wal and his collection of toys, drop in on Max's' backyard servo, meet Uncle Bob and unearth a real talent with Graciana Holland playing an original song live in 'The Shed Sessions'.
I feel really grateful to be a part of The Shed Show; I see lots of 'posts' nowadays about finding true happiness. My mantra of late is, 'expect nothing and appreciate everything.'
Years ago, I was working on a film set and after a lengthy day & night filming, the crew with the director holding court would often be contemplating life’s mysteries over a multitude of beverages. On one of these occasions I rolled in on the end of a vibrant debate on what constituted true happiness. As I walked in the director said, "Here’s Whiskas, let’s ask him what makes him happy."
Off the top of my head I said, "Geez, I’m happy sitting in my shed with my dog listening to music."
After that it was the catch cry, "Shit, I want to be like Whiskas, he’s happy sitting in his shed!"
This is still true today and look at me now, hosting a TV show about sheds and the happy people inside them, can’t get better than that. Sheds have a soul and warmth to them; it’s where everyone is equal, we just turn up and have a chat. PK & I have been welcomed in and made to feel part of the family as soon as we step foot in the shed. I hope that comes across and you enjoy it as much as we do.
Catch you soon in the shed,
Cheers Whiskas.
